Fun in the Sun: Three Fun Road Trip Ideas for Spring

Rarely in Utah will you see snow in April—but it happens! It has been a long winter for us but now with the weather warming up, we can expect to have a nicer spring season. The warmer weather means it’s time to plan road trips! Here are a few of our favorite places that we recommend.

Moab

For outdoor enthusiasts this place is paradise. With so many things to do, you won’t have time to do it all. Some of the great things you can do include: visiting Arches National Park to see the famous Delicate Arch, hiking, rock climbing, and biking, just to name a few. If you’ve never taken a trip out there, you’re definitely missing out on everything that mother nature has to offer. 

St George 

About four hours away from Salt Lake, St. George is your home away from home. It’s a nice road trip for those needed weekend getaways. Enjoy some alone time with your partner, play some golf, or just relax in the pool. The weather there is always a bit warmer than in Salt Lake and there are even palm trees out there which makes everything better. 

Lava Hot Springs

Take a trip out of Utah and visit Lava Hot springs in Idaho. If you’ve never been there, spring isn’t a bad time to visit. It’s an easy road trip for the entire family and it’s no doubt that everyone will enjoy the popular hot springs. While you’re out there, don’t forget to check out some of the great local restaurants.

Did you know that April is National Car Care Month? When spring rolls around, you know that it’s an ideal time to focus on vehicle maintenance. Winter may have wreaked havoc on your vehicle so you’ll want to make sure it’s prepared for the warmer days ahead. Here are four tips to help you care for your vehicle this month.

Brake Pads

During the winter months in Utah, we use our brakes more often due to certain road conditions. You can check for wear by looking at your brake pads and making sure it had at least ¼ inch of pad left. If it doesn’t, it’s time to get them changed.

Vehicle Headlights

Spring and summer are when most road trips are planned. It’s important to get your headlights replaced or refreshed. Having efficient headlights helps your visibility and can potentially help you see hazards on the road and avoid accidents. Don’t overlook this, it can save your life!

Windshield Wipers

You never know when you’ll be experiencing a ton of rain so it’s always good to change out your windshield wipers when needed. Windshield wipers are just as important as headlights because we need to see the road ahead of us at all times. Snow and ice from the winter months can damage our blades so be cautious and inspect your blades.

Oil change

This maintenance item should be a no-brainer. You should always have routine oil changes as your vehicle needs for your engine to run efficiently.
